OMU offers FREE walk-through energy audits to help home and small business owners identify easy to correct solutions for energy efficiency issues. The audit team reviews such items as air leaks, lighting, insulation levels, appliances and furnace filters. A thermal camera is also used to identify insulation voids behind walls, ceilings and floors.
The audit usually takes less than an hour to complete and is required for other OMU energy efficiency incentives and programs.

This program is intended to help weatherize homes of OMU’s low-income, elderly and disabled customers. The OMU Weatherization Project helps insure that Osage’s most vulnerable customers are better protected from the harshness of winter weather and high energy costs. North Iowa Community Action Organization (NICAO) determines customer eligibility for participation in the Weatherization Project. If you qualify according to NICAO’s guidelines and did not participate in this program last year, expect to be contacted this year.
FREE weatherization audits, a service that continues to be available to all OMU electric and gas customers, are performed on eligible customers’ homes to identify specific energy savings solutions for that customer. Each qualifying customer may apply for as much as $500 toward the repair or replacement of a furnace or water heater and various products used to reduce energy consumption. Local providers of weatherization products have generously agreed to offer discounted pricing on products used to weatherize eligible homes.
